Amaya Atencia is the Head of the Mission Data Systems and Products Division at GMV Aerospace and Defence, one of the leading space companies in Spain and Europe.

She holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed an Executive Development Program (PDD) at IESE – University of Navarra.

Since joining GMV in 2007, Amaya has worked in the field of Satellite Navigation Systems and has led the Safety, Reliability and Maintainability Section for critical systems. From 2015, she was responsible for Business Development in the Ground Segments of Earth Observation Constellations and Missions, and since 2020, she has headed the division that designs and delivers data processing systems and products and Mission Data Centers for both public and private space missions.

In recent years, she has driven the development of innovative Earth Observation Ground Segment products and solutions, addressing increasingly demanding technological and strategic challenges such as massive data processing, efficient storage, automation, scalability, federated collaboration, operational agility, and long-term sustainability. Her work focuses on hybrid, cloud-based models, enabling solutions to be deployed on sovereign, secure, and scalable. This approach is a key enabler for new sustainable services and business models, adaptable to evolving needs and fully aligned with Europe’s goals for technological autonomy and competitiveness.
