Bio
Yelvis J. Acevedo A. holds a Master's degree in Spatial Information Applications from the National University of Córdoba (Argentina), in collaboration with the Gulich Institute and the National Commission for Space Activities (CONAE), and a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from the University of Panama.She has experience in university teaching, working as an assistant professor at the University of Panama, where she teaches courses in Cellular, Molecular and Genetic Biology. She has also worked as a laboratory technical assistant at the Latin University of Panama, with responsibilities in inventory management, reagent preparation and administrative support.
She has collaborated on scientific research projects related to the use of remote sensors and geospatial modelling for the study of disease vectors such as leishmaniasis and dengue, participating in international conferences such as the International Astronautical Congress and FOSS4G Buenos Aires 2021.
Her training combines biology, remote sensing, and space technologies applied to environmental and epidemiological analysis. She has also distinguished herself in the DITELAN satellite project, part of the PUEDEN programme, which is focused on the design and integration of Panama's first satellite.
She currently works at the Panamanian Ministry of the Environment as a project coordinator, contributing to the implementation and management of scientific and technological initiatives related to environmental observation and the use of satellite information.
